Provenance Inns & Hotels

The brief: To audit the existing departmental structure and marketing/operations integration. To advise on appropriate future structure, assist with job spec creation, recruitment and induction. To write strategy and begin implementation (interim).

Provenance Inns & Hotels is a group of boutique hotels and inns situated in some of North Yorkshire’s most scenic towns and villages. Each award-winning site has enjoyed much success and popularity and each is proud its own unique offering.

However, behind the scenes, the structure and operations were not as conducive to business growth as they could be. Siloed working practices and independent business unit activity was holding the overall business back.

With a fresh approach from a new Operations Director, this started to change. A new culture of sharing best practice, collaboration, coupled with excellence in procurement and an increased focus on training and development began to transform the business.

Chapter IV played a directional role initially to establish a robust structure that would encourage and facilitate collaborative working and allow skills from around the group to be better utilised and celebrated.

The following months saw the formulation of the marketing strategy (short term and longer term plans considered) and a shared drive to highlight the key strengths of the group in order to improve overall business success.

New roles ave been created, candidates interviewed and appointed and new working partnerships established. Industry Awards have been entered and several parts of the group now find themselves shortlisted finalists! Individuals have been recognised, too, for the achievements around the business, also reaching finalist shortlists. The overall winners yet to be announced, we wish them all the very best for a glittering outcome.

In short, with some guidance, a healthy dose of straight talking and a recognition of the business strengths, Provenance and Chapter IV have achieved in a few months what might have taken significantly longer without that external clarity.

There is no abrupt end to this journey, but with strength and confidence growing within the business, the requirement for Chapter IV will naturally decrease. The team views us as an extension of theirs and are comfortable to pick up the phone when needed. A healthy integrated working model suits most situations and has delivered results for this exciting and successful forward-thinking client.

Sometimes all you need is a good listener and to know you are on the right path. Having spent just one morning talking around the business strengths, target audience and current marketing of this innovative young business, it was clear that’s its entrepreneurial owner had a firm grasp of what was required.

True, that as a start-up, penetrating a competitive market would take some smart moves and intelligent marketing, but with a solid background in marketing, Kiron, owner and manager, knew exactly where to start with this. Starting with highlighting each point of difference in her offer was key to standing out from the crowd. Some tweaking of messaging, expanding her offer to increase the target demographic and reviewing channels and content all helped to make a difference.

With an exceptionally high level of training behind her, Kiron new that customers needed to feel completely safe in her care, trust and confidence would become the cornerstone of her journey with her clientele. Once through the door, her personability, professionalism and diligence spoke for itself and loyalty has never been an issue. Her branding received a face-lift too, and soon the business began to stand out, be talked about and the referrals started to flood in.

As a start up, there was a modest budget, but marketing doesn’t have to cost the earth. Clearly focused, creative and well placed communications have elevated this incredible young business to new heights, generating a momentum of its own. Onwards and upwards!
